Female in Focus is a zine series from British Journal of Photography exploring feminism and gender narratives through the eyes of some of today’s most innovative woman photographers.

Volume 1 explores narratives of autonomy and ownership around women’s bodies. From ever-present threats of violence and vitriol to the celebrated rites of bearing children, Volume 1 ultimately questions whether women’s bodies – for better or for worse – are ever truly “just their own”.
